We may never be able to afford one, but
insanely expensive and ultra-exclusive cars such as the Bentley Bacalar get our
heart racing. After all, what’s not to like about a very powerful grand tourer
with daring looks aimed at one percenters?
As interesting as it is, the Bacalar has
one major problem: it’s not an all-weather machine, as it does not feature a
roof. The issue has been virtually addressed, though, by AksyonovNikita, in a
couple of renderings that portray it as a coupe, with the roofline inspired by
the Continental GT, and a different paint finish.
There’s no indication yet that Bentley is
planning to develop a fixed-roof version of the Bacalar, but with the model
being signed by their coach-building division, Mulliner, anything is possible,
especially if there is enough demand to set the wheels in motion and bring more
cash to their pockets.
So, if you dig the looks and your bank
account has the right number of zeros, then you could reach out to them and say
‘pretty please’ – who knows, maybe they’ll make your wish come true. The
hypothetical Bacalar Coupe would still pack the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine
found in the ‘regular’ model, where it’s hooked up to the eight-speed automatic
gearbox and all-wheel drive. The twelve-cylinder lump develops 650 horsepower
and 900 Nm of torque.
Production of the Bacalar has been capped
at 12 units, and all of them were spoken for before the big unveiling that took
place on the sidelines of the cancelled 2020 Geneva Motor Show. Pricing started
at £ 1.5 million in the United Kingdom, which equals to nearly US$ 2 million at
today’s exchange rates.
