Kia has made the XCeed lineup more
appealing by launching the new XCeed Edition in the United Kingdom. Based on
the ‘2’ grade, which is actually the entry-level model of the series, it starts
at £ 20,995, £ 200 more than the entry-level XCeed and £ 15 less than the base Sportage. The premium is justified by additional gear,
including the standard Quantum Yellow, Lunar Silver and Blue Flame exterior
paint colors and 18-inch alloy wheels – the regular XCeed comes equipped with a
16-inch set.
That’s not all as a bunch of other
features are offered at no extra cost. On the outside, those include the rear
privacy glass, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, LED headlights and LED
DRLs and silver roof rails. Inside, buyers get a faux leather
upholstery, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reversing camera, Android
Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, DAB radio, voice recognition and music
streaming. Drivers receive assistance from several safety systems, including
the Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Keep Assist, Speed Limit Information
Function, Hill-Start Assist Control, Driver Attention Warning, High-Beam Assist
and cruise control with speed limiter.
The new XCeed Edition is available
exclusively with the 1.0-liter T-GDi petrol engine, rated at 120 PS and paired to the six-speed manual transmission. It does the 0-96 km/h in 10.9 seconds and maxes out at 185 km/h. Economy-wise,
it returns 44.1 mpg UK (36.7 mpg US / 6.4 l/100 km) on average and emits 145
g/km of CO2 (both according to the WLTP cycle).
Depending on the selected model, the rest
of the range can be had with a 140 PS 1.4-liter petrol unit
as well as 115 PS and 136 PS 1.6-liter
diesels. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is also part of the range.
As of earlier this year, the XCeed can be ordered with a plug-in hybrid
powertrain that combines the 1.6-liter engine with an electric motor and an 8.9
kWh battery for a total output of 141 PS and 265 Nm of torque. This model can travel on electricity alone for 58 km and is limited to the ‘3’ and ‘First Edition’ grades.
