The sleek Hyundai Prophecy is heading to
production as the next-generation Ioniq, a company official has revealed. In
addition, the retro-inspired 45 EV Concept will be produced as well. During a
recent interview with British publication Auto Express, Hyundai senior vice
president and head of Hyundai Global Design Center, SangYup Lee, confirmed the
news.
Both the Prophecy and 45 will used the
carmaker’s Electric-Global Modular platform (E-GMP), allowing Hyundai to
stretch out the cabins of both vehicles. As part of Hyundai’s plans to put the
duo into production, it will also introduce a new design philosophy that will
see its vehicles adopt very different designs, as opposed to following the
‘Russian Doll’ strategy that has become common across the industry.
Hyundai intends on using detailed LED
lighting technology to bring its family of models together. Technical
specifications for the road-going Prophecy and 45 remain unclear. The 45 should
premiere before the end of this year while the Prophecy will land in 2021.
