Many know Fred Kgugger for his astounding
bike projects, from futuristic Ducati to classical Yamaha ones. This year,
however, he decided to try something special and produced the vehicle you see
here.
The Krugger FD Race Car impresses with its
highly unorthodox body design, particularly the wide wheel span and no
front/rear overhangs whatsoever. This may make it look like a square on wheels,
but it is a prerequisite for the racing-grade VW W12 underneath.
The choice of materials is frankly
puzzling: the steering wheel is made of aluminum, while a wooden bench
represents the only seat. Overall, it looks like Krugger deliberately
prioritized wow factor over the practical aspect. The absence of a windshield
(the tiny deflector doesn’t really count) is another indication that the car is
a show piece, rather than a track tool.
The spec sheet claims the
W12 the FD Race Car comes equipped with produces 750 hp and therefore
boasts a power-to-weight ratio as high as 1.7 kilograms per metric horsepower.
This puts it straight into the hypercar territory, and should translate into
less than three seconds’ sprint time from zero to 100 km/h.
The concept vehicle exists in a single
copy right now, and its creator says it is not for sale. We would imagine many
collectors showing their vivid interest in the model, though, so the situation
may change soon.
