Toyota has launched a new special edition
model in Japan based on the Passo subcompact hatch, which is essentially a
rebadged Daihatsu Boon. Called the Passo Moda Charm, the special version is
based on the Moda trim level and appears designed to appeal to women buyers.
Available from April 7 in Japan, the Toyota Passo Moda Charm features styling
and comfort upgrades, with the most obvious being the Juicy Pink Metallic
paint.
There’s a total of five exterior colors
available, each available with an optional contrasting roof. The pink one
clearly reminds us of the Daihatsu Boon Style, another JDM special that appears
to have served as inspiration for the Passo Moda Charm.
Inside, the Passo Moda Charm adopts synthetic
leather and fabric covers with colored accents for the seats, while the
driver’s seat also comes equipped with a heater. In addition, the car features
a Navi Ready package with panoramic view monitor and a super UV cut package
consisting of green glass for the windshield and front windows and privacy
glass for the rear windows.
As with all other Toyota Passo models, the
special edition version is powered by a 1.0-liter naturally-aspirated
three-cylinder petrol engine making 69 PS and 92 Nm of
torque. The power plant is mated to a CVT that drives the front wheels – AWD
model is available as an option.
Prices for the Toyota Passo Moda Charm
start at 1,617,000 yen (US$ 14,850) for the FWD version and 1,793,000 yen
(US$ 16,460) for the AWD model.
