A series of spy images showing the
long-awaited Ford Bronco Sport have provided us with an excellent look at the
upcoming ‘soft’ off-roader. Recently-leaked images of the Bronco
Sport have shown the vehicle free of any camouflage but these images posted on
the BroncoSportForum and also captured by TFLCar indicate there could be as
many as three front grille designs available to customers.
These three prototypes were reportedly
snapped in Nevada while engineers were taking a break from their testing
duties. One of the prototypes was especially eye-catching as its bright orange
paint could be seen peeking through the camouflage.
We don’t have an official name for this
color on hand but it’s obvious that Ford won’t shy away from offering the
Bronco Sport in a number of brightly-colored shades to add to its fun appeal.
We understands there will be 10 different exterior colors available,
with customers also given the option of a black or grey roof.
Beyond the looks, we know the Bronco Sport
will be based on the current Ford Escape and have a wheelbase of 2,670 mm – 41 mm shorter than the wheelbase of the Escape. The
same engines as the Escape are to be expected, including a 1.5-liter EcoBoost
three-cylinder outputting 180 hp and 240 Nm of torque.
Customers after more grunt will also be
offered a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 250 hp and 372 Nm,
respectable figures for an SUV of this size. Both engines will be coupled to an
eight-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels. The 2021 Ford
Bronco Sport will premiere before the end of the year and may start at around US$ 25,000.
