Porsche will soon expand its Cayenne Coupe
lineup with another model and sources claim that it might be called either the
GT or the GTS. Depending on how they’re approaching the matter, we could be
looking at the Panamera GTS’ powertrain being employed into the Cayenne Coupe
GTS.
This means a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with
460 PS and 620 Nm of torque, matched to an
eight-speed auto and all-wheel drive. The output would place it between the 440
PS Cayenne S Coupe and 550 PS Cayenne Turbo
Coupe. Another rumor speaks about the GT, which could slot under the 680 PS Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe plug-in hybrid with a
4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.
There is certainly enough room between the
542 HP Cayenne Turbo and the 670 HP Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid for the GT to slot
in, but beyond that, we wouldn’t expect a new range-topper for the simple fact
that it would step on the toes of the 650 PS Lamborghini
Urus.
As the latest spy shots revealed, the
Cayenne Coupe GT/GTS will feature a centrally mounted exhaust system, with big
oval pipes. The fake tailpipe trim will be phased off when the crossover
premieres, probably in the coming months, but other than that, it looks pretty
much like the Turbo variant.
