These latest spy photos show what appears
to be a still-unannounced Mercedes-Benz G-Class version built for off-road
enthusiasts. Overall, it looks like the 4×4² spec from the previous generation
(shown in the video) is getting a successor.
No official information is available on
the new G-Class 4×4² to date. As evidenced by the shots, the SUV gets portal
beam axles, high profile tires, flared fenders, a spare wheel on the tailgate,
a rack on the roof, and an underrun bar.
Rumor has it that the new spec will ship
with the regular 585-hp engine of the latest Mercedes-AMG G 63, but
this cannot be confirmed yet. The test vehicle can be seen wearing the bumper,
radiator grille and brakes of the more affordable G 500. For reference, the old
4×4² had 422 hp and 610 Nm of torque.
