Bentley has released the first teaser
video of the facelifted Bentayga, ahead of its debut on June 30th at 17:00 p.m
BST (12:00 p.m. EST). The company is keeping details under wraps, but said the
crossover will “continue to be the fastest, most luxurious and most versatile
SUV in the world, offering a true Bentley driving experience and showcasing
unparalleled luxury combined with effortless performance and everyday
usability.”
The company went on to say the model will
offer a “choice of seating configurations and powertrains, including a plug-in
hybrid.” The latter will likely be updated as Bentley said the 2021 Bentayga
will become their first model launched under the Beyond100 strategy which is
billed as a “journey that will see the company become the world leader in
sustainable luxury mobility.”
While Bentley didn’t go into specifics,
the teaser video provides a glimpse at the crossover’s restyled headlights and
new digital instrument cluster. We can also see a familiar steering wheel, an
analog clock and Naim speakers. Bentley might be playing coy, but a purported
photo surfaced on social media last week. It showed the crossover will have a
Flying Spur inspired front fascia with a wider grille and a revised bumper. The
crossover’s controversial headlights have also been replaced by more
conventional looking units.
The same post included pictures of the
interior which revealed a new infotainment system. They also showed a revised
center stack with new switchgear and restyled air vents. Engine options are
expected to carryover and include a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 542 hp and 770 Nm of torque. There should also be a twin-turbo
6.0-liter W12 with outputs of 600 hp and 626 hp. They’ll be joined by the aforementioned plug-in hybrid variant which
currently has an electric-only range of 29 km according to the EPA.
