The new Audi A6 50 TFSI e plug-in hybrid
is now available to UK buyers from £ 52,790 (US$ 66,166) with a choice of four
different specifications in Sport, S line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. The A6
50 TFSI e’s PHEV powertrain produces a combined 299 PS courtesy of a
2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine and a 140 HP electric motor. The car’s
electric range is rated at 55 km, with an electric-only top speed of 135 km/h.
Initially, buyers can only opt for the
four-door saloon model, but an Avant version will follow later on this year.
Aside from being able to drive emissions-free, the A6 50 TFSI e’s gasoline
engine will put out as little as 35g/km of CO2 when it is called upon to help out
the electric motor. And when you’ve finished your journey, simply plug it into
a domestic AC 7 kW wallbox using the Type 2 cable supplied. You can also use
public chargers with outputs of up to 7.4 kW, which means the recharging
process will take roughly 2.5 hours.
As for specs, you get alloy wheels of up
to 20-inches in diameter in the Black Edition and Vorsprung versions, to go
with black styling elements, privacy glass and either Matrix LED or HD Matrix
LED headlights. The Sport model gets 18-inch wheels and LEDs, while the S line
serves up 19-inch wheels, a lowered sports suspension, S line body styling,
Matrix LED headlights and signature LED taillights.
The UK-specific Vorsprung spec also packs
power door closure, electric steering column adjustment, a Bang & Olufsen
sound system and a panoramic roof, to go with the full leather pack and
contoured sports seats.
