Baojun continues the accelerated renewal of its
Chinese lineup with its largest model to date, the RS-7 midsize SUV. These are
the first official images of the new Baojun RS-7, a versatile SUV which offers
a choice of six or seven seats. As with other recent products released by
Baojun, the RS-7 adopts the brand’s interstellar geometry design language.
The SUV features clear-cut lines and the
new diamond logo placed in the middle of a wide ‘matrix interstellar array’
grille. Exterior highlights also include the slim LED headlights, horizontal
LED taillights, ‘floating roof’ effect and dual-tone alloys.
Targeting growing families and business
users, the Baojun RS-7 measures 4,930 mm in length, 1,975 mm in width and 1,765 mm in height. Perhaps more relevant is the
wheelbase of 2,900 mm which surpasses the wheelbase of many larger
SUVs, contributing to a roomy interior.
The six-seat variants offer a 2+2+2 layout
while the seven-seat models features a 2+2+3 layout (with executive seats in
the second row). According to Baojun, the cabin is also bright thanks to the
large side windows and a generous electric panoramic sunroof.
No official photos of the interior are
available but photos taken by Chinese media have shown a modern dash dominated
by two widescreen displays and a premium ambience. In addition to the roomy and
versatile interior, the Baojun RS-7 also offers all-terrain capability thanks
to a ground clearance of 198 mm when empty (172 mm when
full), approach angle of 18 degrees and departure angle of 21 degrees.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged
four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 177 PS, mated to an
automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The Baojun RS-7 will arrive in
Chinese dealerships towards the end of the year equipped with a 24-hour
connection system capable of 5G vehicle networking, as well as intelligent
driver assistance systems.
