Dacia has become the first carmaker to
offer LPG versions across the range, available directly from the factory. In
the UK, LPG versions of the Dacia Duster, Sandero and Logan MCV can already be
ordered, wearing the TCe 100 Bi-Fuel badge. Power comes from a new 1.0-liter
turbocharged dual-fuel unit, combining gasoline and LPG capabilities. This
setup is said to deliver “superior torque” while the car is in LPG mode, which
you can select via a circular button located underneath the driver-side air
vent.
The benefit here is that you can choose
either of the two fuels on the move, with a combined range of more than 998 km, as well as CO2 reductions in LPG mode. According to Dacia,
emissions savings can be as high as 11% in the Duster TCe 100 Bi-Fuel, and 9%
in the Sandero, with up to 2.4 tonnes CO2 saved over a four year period.
Furthermore, owners are said to benefit
from an average of £ 594 (US$ 751) savings on their annual fuel bill thanks to this
dual-fuel system, or roughly £ 2,400 (US$ 3,035) over a four-year PCP. You even get
the same servicing and maintenance intervals you do with regular gasoline
models, featuring the same three-year 60,000-mile (96,560 km) warranty.
The Romanian brand also boasts about you
having the same amount of practicality with this setup, as it doesn’t impact
overall trunk volume despite the additional LPG fuel tank. LPG-powered cars are
also said to cost around 50% less on average to refill than gasoline-powered
ones. You can buy into Dacia’s TCe 100 Bi-Fuel range by spending upwards of
£ 9,145 (US$ 11,570), which will land you the Sandero Bi-Fuel in Essential spec.
