DS Automobiles’ electrified range just
gained a new member with the addition of the new DS 7 Crossback E-TENSE 225
plug-in hybrid, joining its more powerful all-wheel drive sibling as well as
the DS 3 Crossback E-TENSE – the latter being fully electric.
The E-TENSE 225 drivetrain utilizes a 180
PS gasoline engine with 300 Nm of torque, a 110 PS electric motor, a 13.2 kWh rechargeable battery and an 8-speed automatic
transmission. During start-up, only the electric motor is used, allowing for
zero-emissions driving for up to 135 km/h.
The driver can then engage hybrid mode for
optimal energy use, or sport mode which gives you full power, rated at 225 PS and 360 Nm combined. The battery has a range of up to 55
km (WLTP standard), or 72 km (WLTP low speed standard) in electric mode, with
CO2 emissions ranging from 31 and 36 g/km, and fuel consumption between 1.4 and
1.6 l/100km (168 – 147 mpg US). Like other electrified DS models, this one also
comes with two charging cables (regular mode 2 and 7.4 Kw mode 3). The latter
will charge the battery from zero to 100% in 1 hour and 45 minutes at a wall
box.
As for equipment levels, the DS 7
Crossback E-TENSE 225 features DS Active Scan Suspension as standard, as well
as laminated glass (front and rear) and 19-inch London Diamond Black wheels.
Then you’ve got available DS Connected Pilot Level 2 autonomous technology, DS
Driver Attention Monitoring, DS Night Vision and DS Park Pilot. The DS Active
LED Vision is standard for the Performance Line trim and up.
