Lordstown Motors has released the first
interior sketches of their upcoming Endurance pickup truck. Despite being aimed
at commercial users, the Endurance will apparently feature a high-tech and
thoroughly modern interior. As you can see, there will be a Mercedes-like
digital instrument cluster which flows into a rectangular infotainment system.
Elsewhere, there’s a four-spoke steering
wheel and a curved dashboard with recessed air vents. The model also has
individual front seats which are separated by a wide center console which
should offer plenty of storage space.
Speaking of the center console, one image
shows it have a rotary shifter and an electronic parking brake. We can also see
two cup holders and a slim “storage pocket” which looks like it could be a
smartphone holder. However, a different sketch suggests there will be a
push-button shifter mounted on the dashboard. It’s unclear which design will
win out, but we should find out soon enough.
Besides teasing the interior, Lordstown
announced the Endurance will be unveiled at its headquarters in Ohio on June
25th – the same day as the redesigned Ford F-150. At the event, the company
will display a “pre-production prototype’s technology and exterior for the
first time.”
The Endurance is slated to be launched in
January and feature four in-wheel motors that produce a combined output of 600
hp. They will enable the truck to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 5.5 seconds and have a range in excess of 402 km on
a single charge. Pricing will start at US$ 52,500 – before federal, state and
local incentives – and the company has already racked up countless letters of
intent to purchase thousands of pickups.
