Audi will launch its third plug-in hybrid in the United States in a few months, the A7 55 TFSI e, following the electrified versions of the Q5 compact SUV and the A8 flagship sedan. Expected to go on sale this fall, the plug-in hybrid Audi A7 packs the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder TFSI, coupled with an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power going to all four wheels via the brand’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.

At a combined 362 HP and 500 Nm, the output and torque are identical to the Euro-spec model, which has been available there since last year. Details surrounding the performance, fuel economy, and pure EV range will be announced close to its on-sale date.

Nonetheless, we will remind you that the European model does the 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and has a 250 km/h electronically limited top speed. Positioned under the boot floor, the 14.1 kWh battery pack, gives it an electric range of over 25 miles (40 km) in the European WLTP cycle, at a maximum speed of 135 km/h. With the use of the electric motor, the combined fuel consumption is 123.8 mpg US (1.9 l/100 km) and it emits 44 g/km of CO2.

The 2021 Audi A7 55 TFSI e will be offered with the S line exterior package as standard, as well as HD Matrix LED headlamps, 20-inch wheels shod in all-season tires, four-zone automatic air-con, digital dials, advanced key, and PHEV-specific displays. Customers will be able to choose between two trim levels in the US market.

The Premium Plus will start at US$ 74,900 and will bring all of the above, in addition to the Executive Package with heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise assist, adaptive cruise control, active lane assist with emergency assist, MIB 3 infotainment system, 360-degree camera system, illuminated doorsills inlays, and others.

The A7 TFSI e Prestige adds the power soft-closing doors, pre-conditioning plus, dual-pane acoustic glass and head-up display, and will become available from US$ 80,250. This grade can be specified with the optional Luxury Package, which includes the extended Leather package and individual front contour seats with massaging function, wrapped in Valcona and Milano leather.

Both models can be equipped with the optional Black-optic package that adds high-gloss black accents, sports suspension that lowers the ground clearance by 20 mm, and Audi Sport 20-inch wheels finished in matte titanium. Pricing excludes the destination charge and dealer fees, but the car will be eligible for the federal tax credit of up to US$ 6,712.
