The 2021 Dodge Durango and Charger Pursuit
vehicles have been teased before order books open in September and the vehicles
start to patrol streets across the United States. The teaser image shows the
new police vehicles wrapped in camouflage and of the two, it will be the
Durango Pursuit that benefits from the more comprehensive updates as the SUV
was recently facelifted and improved.
Mopar Insiders speculates the 2021 Durango
Pursuit vehicle could be based on the R/T Tow N’ Go package. If true, that
would mean it would receive a Hemi 5.7-liter V8 and have a towing capacity of 3,946 kg, an improvement over the 3,311 kg towing
capacity of the 2020 Durango Pursuit.
The new Durango Pursuit could also receive
a re-tuned SRT performance exhaust, an increased top speed of 233
km/h, as well as Track, Sport, Snow, and Tow drive modes. It may also be
equipped with six-piston Brembo brake calipers.
As for the 2021 Charger Pursuit, it probably
won’t enjoy so many updates. In all likelihood, police agencies will be able to
opt for either one with a Pentastar V6 engine and rear-wheel drive or a more
powerful 5.7-liter V8-powered variant with all-wheel drive. Regardless of which
powertrain package is optioned, all models will come standard with ballistic
protection on the driver and passenger doors.
The 2021 Dodge Durango Pursuit and Charger
Pursuit should be unveiled in the next few weeks.
