Maserati’s high-performance lineup is
expanding as the company has released the first teaser image of the Ghibli
Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo. Set to be unveiled on August 10th, the
range-topping models will follow in the footsteps of the Levante Trofeo which
was introduced in 2018.
Maserati didn’t have much to say about the
sedans, but the Levante Trofeo has a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that
produces 582 hp and 730 Nm of torque. It enables
the crossover to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, before
hitting a top speed in excess of 300 km/h.
It remains unclear if the Ghibli and
Quattroporte will also use the same engine, but previous reports have suggested
Maserati is moving away from V8 engines built by Ferrari. Instead, future
models are slated to use detuned versions of Maserati’s new twin-turbo
3.0-liter V6 dubbed the Nettuno.
The new engine will power the MC20 sports
car where it will produce 621 hp and 730 Nm of
torque. In the Levante and Quattroporte, it will reportedly have outputs of 523
hp and 572 hp.
Regardless of what’s under the hood, we
can expect the new Trofeo variants to have an aggressive exterior. The teaser
image isn’t very revealing, but the Levante Trofeo has a piano black grille and
sporty air intakes with honeycomb mesh inserts. Other highlights include massive
wheels, carbon fiber accents and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. The
models could also have some special interior touches which may include carbon
fiber trim and special sport seats with Trofeo embroidery.
