In its home market of Germany, the range
at this launch phase kicks off with the base ID.3 Pro Performance model, priced
from € 35,575 (US$ 40,600). It features the mid-range 58
kWh battery pack for a driving range of up to 261 miles (420 km) on the WLTP
cycle, a 201 HP electric motor that drives the rear wheels and compatibility
with 100 kW fast-charging.
The base Pro Performance version of the VW
ID.3 will feature a navigation system with a special range-optimization mode,
adaptive cruise control, and wireless charging. The rest of the range includes
the Life, Style, Business, Family, Max, and Tech trim levels, the latter being
the most expensive with the 58 kWh battery at the moment, priced from € 44,810
(US$ 51,125). In addition to the ID.3’s aforementioned seven trim levels,
customers in Germany will also get the chance to order the electric VW
hatchback with the larger 77 kWh battery pack in the four-seat ProS and Tour
trim levels. Prices for the 77 kWh version of the VW ID.3 start from € 40,936
(US$46,705).
The larger battery pack allows the ID.3 a
longer driving range of 550 km and faster 125 kW fast-charging
capability. The Tour trim level, priced from € 45,917 (US$ 52,389), comes loaded
with matrix LED headlights, 12-way massage seats, all the available driver
assistance systems as standard, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels, among other.
Customers will be
given the option to take delivery of their new ID.3 either in October or in
early 2021. Those wishing to take delivery in October won’t have the AppConnect
and augmented reality head-up display functions enabled (in the case of the Max
and Tech trim levels) in their cars until the first quarter of 2021. The VW
ID.3 is eligible for subsidies in Germany and other European countries. In its
home market, the electric VW hatchback is eligible for the maximum
environmental bonus for EVs, which is a total of € 9,480 (US$ 10,800).
VW also aims to launch a more affordable
ID.3 with a smaller 45 kWh battery and 330 km of range in the near
future.
