The 2020 Corvette Stingray will serve as the official pace car for this year’s Indy 500 taking place on Sunday, August 23. The C8 Corvette in question is painted in Torch Red and sports the Z51 performance package. It has also been equipped with the high rear wing, ground effects package, Carbon Flash exterior accents and badge package, GT2 bucket seats, and a distinctive Indy 500 livery. Sitting behind the wheel will be GM president Mark Reuss.

This will be the 17th time a Corvette has served as the Indy 500’s official pace car and the 31st Chevrolet to lead the field since 1948. This month’s Indy 500 was scheduled to have a 50 per cent capacity crowd due to the coronavirus pandemic but, earlier this month, it was confirmed that no fans will be in attendance. The race will be shown on NBC in the U.S. and kick-off at 2:30 PM ET on Sunday, August 23.
