Joining the updated Range Rover Evoque are some updates to the Land Rover Discovery Sport. The most significant updates made is the availability of two new mild-hybrid diesel four-cylinder engines, offered in D165 and D200 forms with 161 hp and 201 hp respectively. Both of these engines use a 48-volt battery to harvest energy lost under deceleration to improve fuel economy while also providing smoother stop-start operation.

Land Rover has also introduced a new variant for 2020, dubbed the Discovery Sport Black. This variant includes a host of black exterior and interior design enhancements that provide the SUV with some added road presence. This model is available exclusively with a turbocharged petrol engine producing 286 hp and can hit 96 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

Like the Evoque, the updated Land Rover Discovery Sport gets the automaker’s new Pivi infotainment system that comes with its own data plan and battery, meaning it is ready to go as soon as the vehicle is turned on. The system supports over-the-air software updates via the included data connection at no cost. It also includes Spotify integration and wireless device charging with a signal-boosting option.

Buyers of the latest Discovery Sport are able to use a Cabin Air Filtration system that filters out fine particulate matter, allergens, pollen and even strong smells. Also new to the Discovery Sport is Rear Traffic Monitoring with automatic braking and a 3D Surround Camera that operates at up to 30.5 km/h. Prices for the Land Rover Discovery Sport start at £ 31,915 (US$ 41,924).
