Chevrolet has offered a sneak peek of its
upcoming Bolt EV facelift and all-new Bolt EUV crossover during the virtual GM
Fleet Solutions Summit. The two darkened images show both electric vehicles
from the side, revealing several distinctive design cues in the process.
Starting with the more anticipated Bolt EUV, the image reveals just about
enough to make it clear the crossover won’t be a clone of China’s Buick Velite
7.
The triangular shape of the C-pillar is
clearly different from that of the Chinese EV that shares the platform with the
Bolt EUV, and so are the headlights and taillights which show more resemblance
to the Bolt EV.
The Bolt EUV sports sleek LED headlights
that stretch to the middle of the front fenders, while the horizontal
taillights don’t seem to be united by an illuminated strip like on the Velite
7. Roof rails and spoiler aside, there’s not much else we can decipher from this
photo. We do learn from Chevrolet that the Bolt EUV will be the brand’s first
vehicle to feature the Super Cruise hands-free driving technology for the
highway.
Moving on to the facelifted Chevy Bolt,
most of the changes appear to take place at the front and rear ends. We can see
that the headlights are slimmer, with Chevrolet likely going for a split
design. Also, the ‘nose’ seems pointier than before and that’s probably because
of the sculpted sides of the front bumper which appear to integrate a second set
of lights below. Out back, the taillights seem to retain their shape but adopt
a new LED signature. Chevrolet says both EVs will go into production in summer
2021 at the Orion Assembly in Michigan, which means they’ll be on sale as 2022
models.
