Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has confirmed
that its road-legal 004S supercar will hit production in October with prices
starting at US$ 460,000. Like other models from SCG, the 004S will be available in
a number of different forms, including a dedicated race car. In fact, the
racing variant will make its prototype debut at the Nürburgring 24 Hours next
month. Moreover, in September the company will start crash testing on its
second prototype and soon thereafter commence production at its facility in
Connecticut.
According to Evo, that the SCG 004S will
be powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 in both track-only and street-legal
forms. In the road-going 004S, this engine will be rated at 674 hp and
mated to a six-speed gated manual transmission from Graziano.
While performance figures have yet to be
announced, there’s no doubt the car 004S will be fast. In fact, it weighs just
1,179 kg, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 581 hp per ton. As
if that wasn’t enough, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is focusing heavily on the
aerodynamics of its supercar and says it will deliver 600 kg of
downforce at 300 km/h.
Beyond the eye-catching exterior design of
the SCG 004S, what will also make it special is the fact that it has a McLaren
F1 and GMA T.50-like three-seat layout. It also comes complete with traditional
analog dials, rather than any of the advanced digital instrument clusters and
touchscreens that are an increasingly high number of new cars. Scuderia Cameron
Glickenhaus has also announced that buyers can reserve their build slot, with
the first production-ready cars set to hit the road in late 2021.
