Peugeot’s successful 3008 crossover has just been updated for a fresh go at the VW Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai and the rest of Europe’s compact SUV market, and without a doubt, the French product looks ready to battle. Aside from bringing its design more in line with the carmaker’s other brand new products, Peugeot has also given the 3008 better on-board convenience and safety tech, which is a must for any 2020 car.

Visually, the 2017 Car Of The Year winner now features a fully redesigned front end, new full LED taillights, new body colors and a new “Black Pack” option. Meanwhile, the i-Cockpit comes with a 10-inch high-definition touch screen. The updated 3008 also comes with a new frameless grille, shiny black side scoops, painted tread plate, and integrated fog lights. At the rear, the taillights are covered by a clear smoked glass.

Buyers will be able to get a 3008 in the following colors: Celebes Blue (new), Vertigo Blue (new), Pearl White, Artense Grey, Platinum Grey, Perla Nera Black and Ultimate Red. As for the previously-mentioned ‘Black Pack’, it darkens the following elements: front grille, 3008/GT/Peugeot monograms, tread plate, front fender trims, roof bars, roof trim, spoiler trim, rear bumper sill, wipers, door bottoms and the 19-inch Washington Black Pack special onyx and Black mist varnish wheels. Moving on to the interior, there’s a new central infotainment display measuring 10-inches in size. It comes with a series of seven elegant piano keys for the radio, air conditioning, sat-nav, vehicle settings, telephone, mobile apps and hazards, while the Hybrid version also has a specific button for access to the menu’s electrical functions.

Meanwhile, all internal combustion models now feature a driving mode selector as standard, allowing the driver to select between Normal, Sport and Eco modes – or Electric / Hybrid / Sport modes in the electrified variant. The car also has new trims, exclusive decors, and a bunch of clever tech such as a new Night Vision function, which is a unique touch in the compact SUV segment. The 2020 3008 comes with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Position Assist, the latest-gen Automatic Emergency Braking, extended recognition of traffic signs, Adaptive Cruise Control and more. Other goodies include the MirrorScreen compatibility (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), wireless smartphone charging, and the optional 515 watt FOCAL sound system.

Two plug-in hybrid engine options can be found in the HYBRID4 300 e-EAT8 and HYBRID 225 e-EAT8 models, the former with 4WD and a 200 PS PureTech engine, combined with two electric motors (110 PS and 112 PS). The 225 PS 2WD hybrid combines a 180 PS PureTech gasoline unit with a 110 PS electric engine attached to the gearbox.

Estimated recharging times are as follows: 1h 45 min with a 7.4 kW Wall Box, 4 hours with a reinforced 16A socket and a single-phase 3.7 kW on-board charger and 7 hours with a standard 8A socket and the same charger. Of course, if you’d rather have an internal combustion engine, you can choose between two gasoline units (1.2L 3-cyl 130 PS / 1.6L 4-cyl 180 PS) and a diesel (1.5L 4-cyl 130 PS). The 1.6-liter gasoline model is only available with the 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Peugeot will begin selling the updated 3008 in Europe towards the end of this year.
