While the United States continues to cry
out for a Ford Ranger Raptor, Roush Performance has unveiled what could very
well be considered as the next best thing. Roush, perhaps best known for its
overhauled Mustangs, has launched an upgrade package for 2020 Ranger four-wheel
drive models that come equipped with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine producing
270 hp and 420 Nm of torque.
The company starts out by equipping the
pickup with a high-performance dual-tip catback performance exhaust system that
includes stainless steel tips. Roush then fits a new Fox performance suspension
system that maximizes the truck’s off-road abilities while also improving on-road
comfort, as well as 18-inch wheels with 32-inch Grabber A/TX tires.
Roush has also focused heavily on
modifying the looks of the Ranger and created a distinctive front grille with
dual LED lights, custom red tow hooks, bespoke fender vent badges, Roush ‘R’
puddle lamps, and a graphics package. Fender flares also come standard and
owners can opt for a more comprehensive graphics package that includes an upper
stripe and a rocker stripe.
Moving to the interior, Roush has
outfitted the Ranger with premium leather and quilted stitching, embroidered
headrests, Roush floor liners from WeatherTech, serialized interior badges and
custom key fobs. Optional extras include a center console vault and rear seat
vault, aluminum retractable bed cover, bed cargo manager, an off-road utility
kit, and a Roush Chase Rack with dual rigid light bars.
The 2020 Roush Raptor starts at US$ 12,750
over the factory MSRP and comes with a 3-year/58,000 km warranty.
