The latest-generation Hyundai Tucson has
been teased and as we expected, it adopts a radically different design than the
outgoing model. Now in its fourth-generation, the new Tucson includes an
all-new front fascia with what Hyundai refers to as a “jewel-like grille.”
Incorporated into this grille are unique geometric daytime running lights that
are only visible when turned on.
The new Tucson continues the ‘Sensuous
Sportiness’ design philosophy first introduced in the Elantra and expands on
the automaker’s ‘Parametric Dynamics’ design theme. This theme continues to the
rear where dramatic LED taillights catch the eye. There is also a full-width
light bar, an aggressive bumper, and a diffuser.
This new model is bigger and wider than previous-generation
Tucsons and also enjoys an extended wheelbase. Distinctive wheels are also
visible in these teaser images.
As a recent sketch suggested, the interior
of the new Tucson will be very similar to a fan-made sketch we shared back in
July. The cabin includes a four-spoke steering wheel and a fully digital
instrument cluster. The dashboard is particularly intriguing and houses a
widescreen infotainment screen and climate control vents in an area that flows
out from the dash. Also featured are prominent switches for the drive modes and
hidden cup holders.
Details regarding the Tucson’s available
powertrains remain under wraps but CarScoops understand it will land with a
2.5-liter Theta3 four-cylinder in North American offered in naturally-aspirated
and turbocharged forms.
Hyundai has confirmed the new Tucson will
celebrate its world premiere on September 14th at 8:30 p.m. ET.
