The 2021 Range Rover Velar has just been unveiled and benefits from a series of new technologies and powertrain options. In the UK, those looking to purchase a new Velar will, for the first time, be able to select the P400e that features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 105 kW electric motor and a 17.1 kWh lithium-ion battery located under the floor of the trunk.
This powertrain delivers a total of 398 hp
and 640 Nm of torque and is able to hit 96 km/h in 5.1
seconds. The plug-in hybrid Velar’s battery can be charged to 80 per cent in 30
minutes via a fast DC charge point and the SUV also offers an all-electric
range of 53 km.
Land Rover has also introduced its
latest-generation 3.0-liter Ingenium straight-six engines into the Velar
lineup. These consist of the diesel D300 and the petrol P400, both with a
48-volt mild-hybrid system. The former produces 296 hp and 650 Nm of torque and can hit 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. By comparison, the Velar P400 is
rated at 394 hp and 550 Nm of torque and has a 0-60 mph time of 5.2
seconds.
The 2021 Range Rover Velar family is now
also offered with the company’s latest 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in
D200 form and also complete with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The other major
update for the 2021 model year is the fitment of Land Rover’s latest Pivi and
Pivi Pro infotainment system.
