For these younger and active customers,
SEAT has released a sportier version of its subcompact hatchback. It’s powered
by the well-known 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 150
PS and 250 Nm of torque. Mated as standard to a
seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, the power plant enables the Ibiza to
sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and reach a top speed of
219 km/h.
While the performance is decent and could
qualify the Ibiza 1.5 TSI 150 PS DSG as a warm hatch, the efficiency is there
too. The new model is said to use between 5.6 and 6.4 liters/100km (42-36.7 mpg
US) based on the official WLTP test cycle, with corresponding CO2 emissions of
128-147 g/km.
As with all the other Ibiza variants, the
150 PS range-topping model is produced in Barcelona, at the brand’s Martorell
facilities, where SEAT has been assembling the latest Ibiza generation from
2017. With the new variant, SEAT hopes to push Ibiza sales number even higher.
Since its launch in 1984, the nameplate has sold 5.9 million units.
