Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company Segway-Ninebot recently held a celebratory event to mark the completion of the first recorded trans-America electric scooter trip. The trip was sponsored by Segway and carried out by Graham Pollard with six of Segway’s Ninebot KickScooter MAX electric scooters.

At the event, the company also teased the Segway eMoped C which will be introduced to the US market soon. The eMoped C was first launched in China as Ninebot C30 last month as the cheapest bike in the brand’s lineup. It comes as a true moped with functional pedals. The pedals are not very prominent instead there is a floorboard where riders can place their feet.

The Segway eMoped C is capable of hitting a top speed of 25 km/h putting it in the class 2 e-bike category in the US. This means it can be driven in just about any bike lane or public street.

Segway had reportedly hinted last year that it will introduce multiple versions with different battery packs and which would offer ranges of 45, 60, and 75 km. Segway may likely introduce the version with the longest range in the US. The release date is set for the fourth quarter of this year
