Cars like the Suzuki Swift Sport tend to become a hit for good reason: they’re small, cheap, practical and fun to drive. Now, you could take just about any other Suzuki model, strap on a body kit and call it Sport, but it definitely won’t be the same thing. This rendering of a hypothetical Swace Sport variant by X-Tomi is a perfect example of that. It’s not that it looks bad; it just doesn’t make much sense.
First thing, the Swace is aimed at Europe
and is not just based on the Toyota Corolla wagon, aka Touring Sports – it
actually is one. It’s 100% a Toyota, albeit with Suzuki badges. Also, does
anybody remember how much success the Suzuki Kizashi had in Europe? None,
despite being a sporty-looking sedan. So why would a sporty wagon work?
Moreover, the Corolla Touring Sports
already has a pretty dynamic design, so we don’t really need the Swace
pretending to be something it’s not. Still, the render does try to offer a
“little something extra” with its chunkier front bumper that sports wider air
intakes, blacked out lip spoiler and side skirts, black mirror casings and
larger wheels. The ride height has also been lowered for good measure.
As for the real Swace, it will go on sale
in Europe this winter, with pricing and specs to be announced at a later date.
Powering it is a 1.8-liter hybrid unit with an output of 120 HP and
just 99 g/km of CO2 emissions as per the WLTP cycle.
