Toyota has launched a new version of the
Aygo, dubbed the JBL Edition, which is an audiophile’s dream wrapped in a small
package. Developed by JBL, the 600W premium sound system features two 25 mm high-frequency tweeters on top of the instrument panel and two 150 mm speakers mounted in the front doors. Rocking its world is a 160 mm subwoofer placed in the spare wheel well, with a tire repair kit provided as
standard.
There is no depleting the battery while
rocking your favorite tunes, which can be played through Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto too, as the Aygo JBL Edition has the audio-maker’s energy saving
GreenEdge technology. This reduces the power consumption by half while
maintaining the dynamic performance, with sound reproduction coordinated
through the bus-less amplifier.
The Aygo JBL Edition also stands out with
its Electro Grey paint finish, contrasted by the Mandarin Pop orange accents on
the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, A-pillars and roof. The shade has been
applied inside as well, around the air vents, on the gearshift lever, seats and
floor mats, while the ‘JBL’ badge sits in the middle of the dashboard, under
the infotainment system.
On sale in the United Kingdom, this
special version of the city car starts at £ 14,150 (US$ 18,803) with a five-speed
manual or £ 14,850 (US$ 19,733) with the automated manual gearbox. All cars come
with black twin-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy windows, front fog
lamps, automatic air conditioning, part-leather upholstery and the Toyota
Safety Sense suite of driving aids.
