Audi of America is spicing up the A6 by introducing a new sport variant. Dubbed the 2021 A6 Sport 45 TFSI, the model features a slightly more aggressive exterior as it comes standard with the Black Optic package. It includes a black grille, black air intakes, black mirror caps and gloss black window surrounds. Customers who want more meaningful upgrades can purchase the optional Sport package. It adds a sport-tuned suspension and 20-inch V-spoke alloy wheels.
Interior changes are relatively limited,
but the model features a black headliner and fine grain ash wood trim instead
of traditional walnut. Buyers will also find a tri-zone automatic climate
control system and heated leather front seats with contrast stitching. There’s
also a dual screen MMI touch response system with GPS navigation, but a digital
instrument cluster will cost extra.
On the performance front, the A6 Sport
features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been upgraded
to produce 261 hp and 370 Nm of torque. That’s an
increase of 13 hp and it should enable the car to be slightly
quicker than the old A6 Premium 45 TFSI which could run from 0-96
km/h in 6.1 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 209 km/h. Regardless of how fast the car is, the model comes standard
with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
Pricing starts at US$ 55,400 and excludes a US$ 1,045 destination charge. That makes
it slightly more expensive than the A6 Premium 45 TFSI which started at US$ 54,900
before the destination fee was factored in.
