The Porsche Taycan’s sister model is called the Audi E-Tron GT, and while you can’t buy it today, it will be soon enough, as the automaker has announced that it will enter production before the end of the year. Set to be put together at Neckarsulm, Germany, which is where the R8 supercar comes to life too, the new Tesla Model S fighter has been teased in a very generous image gallery that partially shows it from multiple angles.
Previewed by the 2018 concept car, the
E-Tron GT has been toned down, but not by much, with the latest pics showing
the big Audi grille up front, flanked by slim headlights and air intakes with
three horizontal slats. The aggressive lines on the hood and sides give it a
more vibrant presence, while emphasizing its sporty character is the sloping
roofline. The rear light strip, bumper and diffuser have been modestly revised
compared to the concept.
Audi has remained tight-lipped when it
comes to the powertrain of the electric model, though it is expected to pack
dual electric motors in the initial configuration, backed up by a 96 kWh
battery pack. Understood to support 350 kW fast charging, it will give it a
range of about 400 km in the WLTP cycle. In terms of performance,
it will probably mirror the show car, which had 582 HP available via the right
pedal.
Also, confirmed by CEO Markus Duesmann,
the E-Tron GT RS will serve as the range-topping model and will launch
alongside the regular variant.
