This is the 2021 Brabus Rocket 900 and it promises truly ballistic performance. It’s also a fitting addition to the Rocket lineage that has been built by Brabus in different forms since 2006. The new Brabus Rocket 900 is based around the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ and starts out with the standard 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 being increased to 4.5-liters. In addition, Brabus has created a bespoke precision-balanced billet crankshaft with the stroke increased to 100 mm, while also fitting bespoke billet piston rods, larger forged pistons, and increasing the cylinder bores to 84 mm.
Elsewhere, the famed German tuning company
has developed a bespoke forced induction system and fitted new turbochargers
that include a larger compressor unit, while increasing maximum boost pressure
to 1.4 bar. The 2021 Rocket 900 also includes a carbon fiber ram-air intake
system and has been outfitted with a high-performance exhaust system made from stainless
steel and complete with adjustable exhaust flaps that are electronically
controlled.
These mechanical modifications, combined
with a recalibrated ECU, means the Rocket 900 pumps out 888 hp at 6,200 rpm and 1,250 Nm of torque from just 2,900 rpm, although this torque figure
has been capped at 1,050 Nm to protect the drivetrain.
Brabus says the car will hit 100
km/h in a mere 2.8 seconds, reach 200 km/h from a standstill in 9.7
seconds, and hit 300 km/h in 23.9 seconds. Its top speed is an
electronically limited 330 km/h.
To match the added performance, Brabus has
designed a bespoke widebody kit for the Rocket 900 that includes flared fenders
that increase the width of the car by 7.8 cm at the rear. There is
also a multi-piece carbon fiber rear wing and diffuser, as well as a set of
Brabus Monoblock Z Platinum Edition wheels measuring 21×10.5 at the front and
22×12 at the rear with 295/30 and 335/25 tires respectively.
Brabus will build just 10 examples and
buying a fully equipped one costs an eye-watering € 427,000 euro excluding VAT,
the equivalent of just over half a million dollars.
