More than four years after its debut in South America in mid-2016, the Fiat Mobi city car has received a series of updates for the 2021MY. The most important of them is the addition of a new Trekking variant which tops the range as a crossover-flavored alternative to the lesser Easy and Like trim levels. Features typical to the Mobi Trekking include longitudinal roof bars, black roof and partially black hood, dedicated 14-inch alloys (or steelies with darkened caps), black mirror caps, new ‘Trekking’ decals, and an exclusive fabric upholstery with orange stitching inside.
The styling upgrades come in addition to
the changes made to the rest of the 2021 Mobi lineup. Those include a much
higher ground clearance of 190 mm (up from 156 mm) – an
impressive figure considering the Duster 4×2 rides 205 mm above the
ground. The increased ride height also results in a higher approach angle of 24
degrees – the highest in the segment.
Other updates include a new grille with
the new Fiat logo script and flag also found on the latest Strada, revised
front bumper, new wheel arch trims, and new wheel covers for the Like grade. Inside,
the 2021 Mobi’s main update is the latest-generation UConnect infotainment
system with a 7-inch touchscreen, available for the Like and Trekking models.
It features Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, thus offering access to
navigation via Waze and Google Maps, voice recognition (Siri and Google Voice),
music streaming, and two simultaneous smartphone connections via Bluetooth.
Nothing changes under the hood, with the
2021 Fiat Mobi carrying on with the Fire Evo Flex 1.0-liter four-cylinder bi-fuel
engine (petrol/ethanol). The power plant offers up to 75 PS at 6,250
rpm when running on ethanol. Prices in Brazil range from R$ 38,990
(US$ 7,000) for the base Mobi Easy and R$ 47,390 (US$ 8,500) for the
Mobi Trekking. The Mobi is one of the most popular Fiat models in Brazil, with
more than 215,000 units sold since 2016.
