Nissan USA has announced pricing information for the 2021 Altima midsize sedan. Redesigned for the 2019MY, the Toyota Camry rival sees price hikes for the new model year, with the base 2021 Altima S starting at US$ 24,300 (excluding a US$ 925 destination and handling fee). That’s an increase of US$ 200 over than the base 2020 model.
The changes made for the 2021MY are minor
as well and include the repositioning of the Altima SR grade above the SV
grade, bringing the lineup order of S, SV, SR, SL and Platinum in line with other
2021 Nissan sedans. Additionally, the 2021 Altima S grade gains access to the
optional New Driver Assist Package. Also new is the optional SV Premium Package
that includes a moonroof, heated front seats and Intelligent Lane Intervention.
As with the 2020 Altima, the standard
powertrain for all trim levels is a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder
rated at 188 HP and 244 Nm of torque. The engine is hooked to an
Xtronic CVT which sends power to the front wheels, with Intelligent All-Wheel
Drive offered as an option on SV, SR and SL grades and as standard on the
Platinum model (the Platinum FWD model is no longer available).
Customers also have the choice of a
2.0-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder unit rated at 236 HP and 320 Nm of
torque. The variable compression turbo engine is only available on the Altima
SR in front-wheel-drive guise.
All 2021 Nissan Altima models feature
standard safety systems such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent
Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Driver Alertness. The Nissan Safety
Shield 360 suite is available on all trim levels and adds pedestrian detection
to the AEB system, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, radar-based
Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist.
Also available are Nissan Intelligent
Mobility technologies such as the ProPilot Assist single-lane “hands-on”
highway driving assistance technology, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android
Auto.
