While most of us were in lockdown earlier this year, G-Power presented the G5M Hurricane RR, a highly powerful conversion for the BMW M5. Fast forward to the present day, and the kit is finally up for sale, at an eye-watering € 115,000 (US$ 136,330), which as you may have guessed, does not include cost of the car itself that is priced about the same in Germany.
Since they first put the spotlight on the
project, they have revised the output of the twin turbocharged 4.4-liter V8,
from 840 to 900 PS. Peak torque remains unchanged though at 1,050 Nm. That’s a 275 PS and 300 Nm jump over the
M5 Competition.
According to the numbers released by the
tuner, the V8 unit will rocket the super sedan to 100 km/h in just 2.5
seconds, and on to a top speed of 350 km/h, which has actually been
electronically limited to protect its tires. Speaking of which, the G5M
Hurricane RR rolls on Michelin rubber size 285/30 front and 295/30 rear on
9×21-inch front and 10.5×21-inch rear forged alloy wheels.
Improving the stance of the tuned M5 is
the G-Power’s Variant 4 coilover suspension, which allows height adjustment
(15-30 mm in – front / 10-30 mm in – rear), as well as
separate adjustment of the compression and rebound damping. The final upgrade
is the GP Venturi carbon fiber engine hood, which not only helps lower the
weight of the car, but also optimizes the airflow and helps cool the power
unit.
