A handful of teasers of the upcoming UNI-V have emerged out of China previewing a sporty-looking SUV. UNI is a new brand from Changan Automobile and revealed its first production model at the start of the year. Dubbed the UNI-T, it was a sleek SUV designed to appeal to young buyers. The new UNI-V takes some inspiration from its smaller sibling and will also have a design inspired by the Changan Vision-V Concept unveiled at last month’s Beijing Auto Show.
The UNI-V has an aggressive front end with
sleek LED headlights and a grille with a unique geometric pattern. These teaser
images also preview the rear of the SUV, which will sport taillights similar to
those of the Vision-V Concept but a little bit larger connected by a full-width
LED light bar. Much like the Vision-V Concept, as well as the smaller UNI-T,
the new SUV has a bold roof spoiler which incorporates two large fins that
house additional brake lights and a rear-facing camera.
Car News China reports that the UNI-V will
be based on the existing Changan CS95 SUV. Consequently, it will be powered by
a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 233 hp and 360
Nm of torque which will reportedly will be mated to an eight-speed automatic
transmission.
The Changan UNI-V will hit the Chinese
market in the first quarter of 2021, which means its unveiling can’t be that
far away.
