As deliveries for the 2021 Bronco are expected to begin in June of next year, Ford continues to showcase the SUV’s versatility with a new concept. Say hello to the Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig, created by Ford and Filson, the rugged outdoor outfitter. As the name suggests, the concept combines firefighting equipment with rugged materials crafted by Filson, paying tribute to decades of first responders who trusted Bronco SUVs.

The Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig also serves as an inspiration for 4×4 fire and rescue vehicles we might see in the future. For now, Ford and Bronco Wild Fund will donate two Broncos modeled after the Wildland Fire Rig to help wildland fire personnel protect communities and vital natural resources.

Based on the 2021 Bronco Badlands four-door SUV with the available Sasquatch Package, the Wildland Fire Rig concept combines rugged off-road capability with durable Filson materials. The SUV features an iconic Forest Service Green paint similar to the first-generation U.S. Forest Service Bronco, a full fire skid with water tank in back, and interior design elements made from classic Filson fabrics and accessories.

Exterior highlights include the modular steel bumper from Ford Performance, Warn Zeon 10s winch, heavy-duty custom fabricated roof rack with a Rigid LED light bar, as well as firefighting equipment. The latter includes a Pulaski, shovel, water tanks, axes, Kimtek Firelite Fire/Rescue Transport skid, Hannay Reels fire hose reel, Davey high-pressure water pump and 189-liter water tank. A Stihl chainsaw, two hard hats, a high lift jack and Sure Seal drip torch are latched to the skid.

Inside, the Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig features signature Filson materials like the tough otter green duck canvas used on the door bolsters, armrests and seat trim surrounds, the seating surfaces in quilted black leather inspired by Filson’s jacket lining with embossed Bronco logo, and Filson otter green painted grab handles on the instrument panel and center console.

The top and rear cargo area divider is made of fireproof ripstop nylon similar to that on Filson backpacks and briefcases, while the wheels feature Cerakote ceramic coating. Finally, the steering wheel’s Bronco horse logo is plated in Filson brass, while an embroidered Filson logo is mounted to the interior top and center console trim tag. The Bronco concept also features a CB radio neatly mounted on the device rack.
