Hongqi took this year’s Beijing Auto Show by storm with several premieres, including the new E-HS9, which celebrates its market launch at the event. Offered exclusively in China, the electric luxury SUV has launched in two configurations, with one electric motor on each axle, pumping out 215 HP and 350 Nm of torque, and 328 HP and 450 Nm respectively.
The lesser variant of the zero-emission
model can travel for 460 km, according to local media, and the
maximum range in the more powerful version, which can reportedly sprint to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds, is 510 km.
At 5,209 mm long, 2,010 mm wide and 1,731 mm tall, the E-HS9 is 58 mm longer
than the BMW X7, 10 mm narrower and 74 mm lower. The 3,110 mm wheelbase is 5 mm shorter than the Munich brand’s flagship
SUV.
With the bold front end, dominated by the
large grille with vertical slats, slim headlights and LED strips separating the
two, dynamic lines on the sides and a rather busy-looking rear end, there is no
mistaking the E-HS9 for anything else.
The interior is highlighted by the three
digital displays, including the infotainment system, digital gauges and HVAC
controls, and is adorned with fine leather and wood and aluminum inserts.
Pricing has reportedly been set at 550,000 yuan (US$ 80,670), but it will
exceed 750,000 yuan (US$ 110,000) for the faster model.
