BMW has just unveiled a special edition variant of the 2021 X2 which is dubbed the M Mesh Edition. The Edition M Mesh package will be available on the X2 sDrive28i and x2 xDrive28i and includes various features from the optional M Sport X package. Thus, it comes as standard with the M Sport Exterior, Shadowline and Extended Shadowline packages.
Key exterior details of the X2 M Mesh
Edition include high-gloss black window and exterior mirror surrounds that also
extend to the B-pillar and C-pillar trim. In addition, the rear trunk lid badge
surround and the exhaust tips are finished in black chrome.
Buyers will be offered five exterior color
choices: Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, Black
Sapphire Metallic and Sunset Orange Metallic. Overseas models include orange
and black exterior decals, but models in the U.S. do not come with these
decals.
Adding to the unique looks of the special
edition are unique 19-inch wheels and available 20-inch M Aerodynamic wheels
that come with black and orange accents. Adorning the 19-inch wheels are
225/45R19 runflat tires, while the 20-inch wheels have slightly lower-profile
225/40R20 runflat tires. Both these wheel options are also available with
all-season or summer performance tires.
In the cabin, the X2 M Mesh Edition comes
standard with M Sport seats that are clad in Black Perforated Dakota leather.
There are also unique door sills with ‘Edition’ lettering, aluminum hexagon
trim and Pearl Grey Chrome accents, as well as an M Sport steering wheel with
paddle shifters.
Powering both the BMW X2 sDrive28i and
xDrive28i models is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 hp at 5,000
– 6,000 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque between 1,450 and 4,500 rpm. The sDrive28i
can hit 96 km/h in 6.6 seconds while the xDrive28i hits the same mark
in 6.3 seconds. The M Mesh Edition package starts at US$ 3,550 on top of the US$ 36,600 starting price for the 2021 X2 sDrive28i and the US$ 38,600 price of the
X2 xDrive28i, excluding a US$ 995 destination fee.
