Hyundai introduced the 2021 Sonata N Line earlier this year and now the company has announced pricing will start at US$ 33,200 – excluding a US$ 995 destination charge. Set to arrive at U.S. dealerships later this month, the Sonata N Line features a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 290 hp and 422 Nm of torque.
The engine is connected to an eight-speed
dual-clutch transmission which is wet as it uses oil to “significantly improve
lubrication and cooling performance.” The gearbox also has a Rev Matching
function as well as Launch Control and an N Power Shift feature. The latter
automatically activates when the “car accelerates with more than 90 percent
throttle demand, mitigating torque reduction by using upshifts to deliver
maximum power to the wheels through each gear change.”
The performance features don’t stop there
as the Sonata N Line has a revised steering system and a sport-tuned suspension
with new bushings and dampers. There are also stiffer rear springs, larger
stabilizer bars and special shocks. Last but not least, there’s a beefier
braking system with discs that measure 345 mm front and 235 mm rear.
On the styling front, the Sonata N Line is
distinguished by sportier fascias, gloss black accents and unique 19-inch
wheels which can be wrapped in summer tires for an extra US$ 200. The model also
has a panoramic sunroof, a four-tailpipe exhaust system and LED headlights.
The sporty styling continues in the cabin
as drivers will find a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel and sport seats
with Nappa leather bolsters as well as Dinamica suede inserts. Other highlights
include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment
system and a wireless smartphone charger. There are also aluminum pedals, an
ambient lighting system and an auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink.
In terms of safety, the Sonata comes
standard with a host of driver assistance systems such as Forward
Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Smart Cruise Control with
Stop & Go, and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist with Rear
Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist. There’s also High Beam Assist, Lane
Keeping Assist, Lane Follow Assist and Safety Exit Warning – just to name a
few.
