Having launched the new generation Crown more than two years ago, Toyota has now updated it for the 2021MY, and it is already available at dealers across Japan. Things look identical on the outside, save for some new colors. Open the door, though, and you will see a redesigned centrer console, with new and repositioned middle air vents that no longer flank the old HVAC controls.
Instead, they sit under the new 12.3-inch
TFT touchscreen, which has physical buttons and comes bundled with smartphone
integration and other key features. The HVAC controls have been redesigned and
can now be accessed more easily while driving. Elsewhere, the Crown retains the
three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, carbon trim and upholstery options.
The premium sedan is also equipped with
the latest iteration of the Toyota Safety Sense. The package includes advanced
and improved safety gear, such as the upgraded radar cruise control, pre-crash
safety with day- and nighttime pedestrian detection and daytime cyclist
detection, and a few other items that will provide peace of mind to drivers.
The engine lineup soldiers on, with a 241
HP, 2.0-liter turbocharged four and two hybrids, a 2.5-liter petrol with a
combined output of 222 HP, and a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 354 HP. As mentioned,
the 2021 Crown is already on sale in Japan with prices ranging from 4,899,000
yen to 7,393,000 yen (US$ 46,762 to US$ 70,567).
