The 2021 VW Arteon and Arteon Shooting Brake are now available with the eHybrid powertrain, offering zero-emissions driving for your daily commute. The new plug-in hybrid VW Arteon is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine and an electric motor, producing a combined 215 HP and 400 Nm of torque. The pure EV range is rated at 59 km for the Arteon, and at 57 km for the Arteon Shooting Brake. 0-100 km/h comes in 7.8 seconds, with a top speed of 222 km/h.
Citing a study in Germany that says 95
percent of all daily car journeys are shorter than 50 km, VW expects
that the majority of trips in its home market will be completed in the new
plug-in hybrid Arteon using electric power alone.
The pure EV mode of the new Arteon and
Arteon Shooting Brake can be used at speeds of up to 130 km/h. In
addition, VW claims that the combined driving range of the electrified Arteon
can reach more than 900 km provided it starts the journey with a
fully charged battery and a full tank of fuel.
The new VW Arteon eHybrid is going to be
offered in two trim lines – Elegance and R-Line. Both packages will come fitted
with their own 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with Light Assist, dynamic
turn signals in the LED taillights, and individual front aprons.
The interior of the plug-in hybrid VW
Arteon features an Alcantara/leather upholstery, paired with genuine wood (in
the case of the Exclusive trim line), or a metal finish (for the R-Line). The
standard leather multifunction steering wheel incorporates the
much-talked-about touch-sensitive controls we first saw on the ID.3 and the new
Golf. Heated front seats, front and rear park assist, a digital instrument
cluster, and an eight-inch infotainment system are part of the standard
equipment.
The 2021 VW Arteon eHybrid is priced from
51,000 euros (US$ 60,740) in its home market in Germany,
with the Shooting Brake variant priced at 51,900 euros (US$ 61,800).
