Enter the new DS 9, riding on the PSA Group’s EMP2 V2.3 platform. It’s arguably the most elegant car France has produced in almost a decade, and it’s priced locally from € 47,700 (US$ 56,774). Go for the top spec E-TENSE 4×4 360 model and that can set you back as much as € 80,000 (US$ 95,218).
There are a total of three available power
units for the time being, starting with a PureTech 225 gasoline variant,
followed by two plug-in hybrids in the E-TENSE 225 and E-TENSE 4×4 360.
Another, longer-range E-TENSE 250 model will soon complete the lineup. The
flagship DS 9 E-TENSE 4×4 360 uses 110 and 113 PS electric motors, working
alongside a 200 PS PureTech gasoline unit for a combined 360 PS and
520 Nm of torque. The spec also comes with black DS Performance
logo brake calipers and 20-inch Munich alloy wheels.
There will only be two trim levels
available at launch in the Performance Line + and Rivoli +. The former offers a
black Alcantara interior, chrome badges on the front doors, DS Performance Line
logos, gloss back grille, perforated full grain leather steering wheel and
more. The Rivoli + on the other hand is said to connect quality materials with
premium diamond-shape trim.
As for its convenience and active safety
technology, the DS 9 comes with Level 2 autonomous driving features, the DS
Active Scan Suspension, DS Active LED Vision headlights, a Focal Electra sound
system, Proximity Keyless Entry & Start, DS Night Vision, Driver Attention
Monitoring, Active Blind Spot Monitoring, Extended Traffic Sign Recognition and
