After the success of the 2020 Ranger Wildtrak X, Ford Australia decided to bring it back for the new model year, with exterior and interior enhancements that separate it from the regular Ranger Wildtrak. Based on the Ranger 4×4 Wildtrak double cab, the Wildtrak X is available with two powertrains: a 3.2-liter unit mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.0-liter bi-turbo with a 10-speed auto. Pricing starts at AU$ 66,490 (US$ 48,782) and AU$ 67,990 (US$ 49,882) respectively.
The updated styling includes the
black-painted nudge bar, grille, wheel arches, side steps, roof rails, bumper
trim and mirror caps, unique 18-inch alloy wheels and LED light bar. The
makeover also counts the Sabre-colored highlights and Ebony Black accents on
the outside that has replaced the Bolder Grey ones.
The cabin features leather upholstery,
Wildtrak orange stitching, Sabre orange detailing and illuminated scuff plates.
The 8.0-inch SYNC3 infotainment system with smartphone integration, satellite
navigation, reversing camera and voice controls is standard, as is the FordPass
Connect smartphone app that allows owners to operate the ute remotely.
The Driver Assist Technology is on deck,
with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, hill descent
control, hill launch assist, electronic rear differential lock, adaptive cruise
control, park assist and tire pressure monitoring system. With the
reintroduction of the Ranger Wildtrak X, as well as the return of the XL Tradie
4×4 and the launch of the FX4 MAX, XLT Double Cab Chassis and XLT Fully Loaded,
Ford wants to maintain its 4×4 leadership throughout the new year.
