Chinese automaker Hycan had intended to come to the Auto Guangzhou 2020 with the Ar18 Concept, the basis for a flagship saloon and its second production car, but ultimately delayed the reveal until next year.
The reasons for this move are unknown, but
local media speculate that competition could have played a major role. Among
other highlights, Nio is working on a similar-specced EE7 saloon based on its
ET Preview Concept. GAC Group is also
busy turning its Aion S into a mass-produced premium sedan called the EA6.
As for the Hycan Ar18, it looks much like
the marque’s first production model, the Hycan 007. The 007 will soon be getting three new trim versions called Pro, Plus
and Sport. The latter will get AWD and be able to accelerate 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. All three come powered by the same traction battery rated
for 523 kilometers of range.
