At a first glance, one might easily think
that this tuned Mercedes-AMG G63 comes from Mansory, but it doesn’t, as it was
created by Lumma Design. A reinterpretation of the CLR G770 kit launched last
year, it adds the ‘R’ suffix and a few revisions to the initial offering that
is still on sale. They may not be that visible due to the busy design, but they
are there.
Among the changes, the tuner highlighted
the tweaked front and rear bumpers, new rear door attachments, additional DRLs
and plastic fender flares that can now be screwed directly to the vehicle,
making the installation, which is also covered by Lumma alongside the re-paint,
easier.
The black 4×4 sports red trim on the
grille surround, side body panels and on the wheels, which can be up to 24
inches in size, wrapped in 295/30 front and 355/25 rear tires. The Performance+
and Sport+ packages add extra features to the G63. The flap-controlled exhaust
system, with black or chrome-plated stainless steel tailpipes, complements the
power upgrade that results in the twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 pumping out
641 HP and 950 Nm of torque.
In stock form, the G63 comes with 577 HP and 850 Nm of torque, driving all four wheels
through a nine-speed automatic transmission. With the optional AMG Driver’s
Package, it can max out at 240 km/h, whereas for the 0-96
km/h, you are looking at 4.5 seconds. The range-topping G-Wagen has an MSRP of US$ 156,450 in the U.S.
