Volkswagen is busy testing a new camouflage-clad Golf in China, most probably the performance-packed GTI variant. In all likelihood, the Chinese spec will be identical to the European one shown in the video as far as the exterior styling. The placement of the tailgate badges is the only thing that the company usually changes there, making the letters “GTI” larger and putting them straight under the VW logo.
The fifth door will also sport the
powertrain designation: 380 TSI. rumor has it that the China-spec Golf GTI
comes to the market armed with a two-liter turbo-four engine rated at 220 PS, mated to a seven-speed DCT and front-wheel drive.
The launch is expected in 2021.
