The DS 4 five-door hatchback left the market a couple years ago, but a second generation is not too far away. Here’s what it shapes up to be. The next-gen DS4 is a C+ class, slightly lifted hatchback, just like its predecessor. It comes based on the updated EMP2 architecture of the latest DS 7 Crossback and DS 9 sedan.
Notable features include LED Matrix
headlights, an SAE Level 2 autonomous driving system, a HUD display, plenty of
composite materials used throughout for weight reduction, and a night vision
camera integrated into the radiator grille. The shock absorbers will support
automatic electronic adjustment: the car will use a front-mounted camera to
scan the road ahead and decide when to soften the shocks and when to stiffen
them back up.
The range will incorporate a plug-in
hybrid called the DS 4 E-Tense, which will bring together a turbocharged
four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 180 PS and an electric
motor rated at 110 PS. The car will have around 50 kilometers of electric range.
Sales are scheduled to begin in late 2021.
