Car spotters discovered a disguised off-road version of the Ford Explorer back in September. Now, we know it is called Timberline, and this is what it looks like. The latest batch of spy pics shows the SUV without any camo, revealing redesigned lower and upper front grilles, more robust-looking underbody protection, and taller ground clearance. The rear end is also quite different – note especially the exhaust system layout. The wheels are black and wear what appears to be off-road-capable tires.
From the technical perspective, the car
should receive suspension tweaks, electronic diff locks, a 360-degree view
system, and boosted engine lineup. None of this is official yet. The Explorer
Timberline should debut in the first half of 2021.
